Despite Loss and War, We Continued to Learn
My name is Adel Majed Awad, a senior student specializing in Financial Accounting at the Faculty of Management and Finance.
Despite living through the harrowing details of war, losing many loved ones, and enduring unforgettable physical and psychological injuries, we insisted on continuing our path of learning and achievement. The occupation destroyed Gaza’s infrastructure, making daily life extremely difficult as basic services like electricity and water were disrupted, and the economic situation deteriorated significantly. The experience of displacement became an inseparable part of our lives, forcing us to leave our homes in search of safety, which led to family dispersal and loss of community connections.
However, we proved to the world that education is the only means through which we can save ourselves. Despite these conditions, An-Najah National University facilitated the best education for us and understood the challenges and limited resources we faced as students.
As a student from Gaza, I take pride in having successfully enrolled at An-Najah University, where I completed 9 out of 12 credit hours as part of the initiative to empower Gaza students to study as visiting students according to the Ministry of Education's plan, despite the devastating and oppressive war conditions.
I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to this educational institution, which supported us and made our educational journey easier. I thank the administration, professors, and everyone who understood our circumstances in Gaza and helped us in our pursuit of learning and success.
